An Afternoon With Mickey And Friends

This is a super late post, however I felt like I needed to include this in the blog for posterity sake.  I hope that when the Little Ones are all grown up they will visit this post and remember the great time they had with Mickey Mouse and his friends.

It was Dec. 26, 2011 when all 4 cousins, well 5 actually I should include their cousin Ate I. who is in her teens.  So as I was saying it was the first time all 5 cousins saw a show together, I accompanied them to see Disney On Ice in Araneta Coliseum.  I remember when I was a kid I also saw this show, but back then it was called Holiday On Ice.

The Little Ones were so excited, especially the Little Boy he is still at that stage where he thinks that Mickey and the other Disney characters are really his friends.  He even has a small Mickey stuffed toy that he keeps by his side when he sleeps.

The Little Boy and the Little Girl with their cousins "Biboy" and" Kuya"
waiting for the show to start, holding their popcorn tubs
which was half empty when the show actually started

Could not get them to smile all at the same time,
but they are all still so cute for me

The Little Boy with eldest cousin Ate I., love his smile in this pic

Drinking soda made him more excited  to see the show

The show starts, and the kids especially the Little Boy is asking
where is Mickey?

Here's Donald, Daisy, Pluto, heck even Pinocchio, but still no Mickey

Finally Mickey with Minnie appears,
they were inside the giant cupcake the whole time. The Little Boy could
not contain his excitement when he saw Mickey, he kept on shouting Mickey =)

I love Dragon dances,  so happy to see one done on skates

This was the part that got me excited, fire and ice =)

Loved the troll so cute

This was the finale

This is a video of the finale.  Everyone including us adults were cheering by this time.  Too bad I could not figure out how to make the screen bigger.

One last picture before leaving,
the Little Boy could not stand still anymore for this shot kaya wala siya too bad

Pinsec Prito To Welcome The Year Of The Dragon

Chinese New Year is fast approaching, we will be saying goodbye to the year of the Rabbit will be welcoming the lucky Dragon.  To celebrate I will probably be making our favorite Chinese appetizer Pinsec Prito, and if I am in the mood I might make another favorite Chinese Hot Shrimp Salad

I and the Little Ones are absolutely crazy addicted to pinsec pritos, we can finish 10 pieces each in one sitting.

If you would like to serve this on Chinese New Year here is the recipe:

1/2 kilo ground pork, ask for the one with more fat
1/4 kilo of shrimps, minced it up
1/2 tbsp soy sauce
1/2 tsp sesame oil
1 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tsp of sugar
salt and pepper to taste
chopped green onions
1 pack of dumpling or molo wrappers
1 beaten egg
water
oil for deep-frying

1. In a bowl combine all of the ingredients listed above up to the chopped green onions.  Make sure to mix everything well.  Let it sit in the fridge for 30 minutes.

2. Get about a teaspoon of the mixture and place in the middle of the dumpling or molo wrapper.  Fold to make a triangle, and then wet the edges with water and the beaten egg.  Place the pinsec pieces in a plate topped with was paper to prevent the pinsec pieces from sticking to the plate.

3. Heat enough oil in a wok or deep frying pan.  The oil should not be too hot that the pinsec pieces easily blister and burn in just a few seconds.  Deep-fry the pinsec pieces until golden brown.  Serve immediately with either sweet and sour sauce, soy sauce and chili.

Enjoy and Kung Hei Fat Choi =)

Welcomed 2012 With A Feast

Happy New Year!

Our New Year's Eve table. Did you notice the lechon missing
its skin?  Unfortunately the lechon skin did not survive
the flight from Cebu so we had to strip it off and
pan-fry it to make it crispy

Homemade banana bread from Tita F. and Mom's pinoy spaghetti

Pansit Bihon, and of course Dad's must have queso de bola and ham

The Little Girl ushered the new year with her vuvuzela

While the Little Boy welcomed the new year
by continuous honking

The Kids' New Year's Day table spread

This is the Oldies' table

This is Ate P's pasta, which I helped cook.  This dish was the surprise hit dish of the day, it was absolutely delicious.  It had prawns,  anchovies, basil, parsley, lots of garlic and freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
Two version were made, this one was for the Oldies it was cooked with white wine

This version was for the Kids, no white wine but still very yummy

Everyone's favorite deep-fried crabs

My favorite suahe

Dad's favorite kinilaw na tanigue

Another favorite of Dad, shredded green mangoes with bagoong

Another New Year's gift  from Tita F. this time a fluffy sponge cake

And finally Mom's famous fruit salad
